Let me start off by saying the goal of this evening was to have leftovers. We went over to Ozona Pig and got some Brunswick stew and the big Boss Hog special.
The Brunswick stew has a little bit of a kick to it, but it’s oh so good. The boss hog platter has pulled pork, brisket, ribs, & chicken. We hardly made a dent in it. The ribs were fall off the bone tender and the rest of it was smoky and yummy. Total bill with a drink was $42.

We went back to Marker 39 with some friends for brunch today. Everything on their brunch menu looks interesting but I went back to the same thing I had last time, the Cuban Tostada.
I just can’t resist this dish. Their pulled pork is really tasty and then add some fried eggs, plantains, rice & beans on top of a crispy tostada. What’s not to love? Loren ordered the Crab Benedict.
My Cuban dish may have some competition now. Those crab cakes were amazing. Unbelievably flavorful with two perfectly poached eggs on top. So tasty! Our friends got the traditional Eggs Benedict and the waffle breakfast and all of the plates were clean when we were done. They make some really tasty food here. Total bill for the two of us was $35.

We were in Deland today and headed over to Brian’s BBQ for lunch. There was no way Loren was passing up something called Rib Stew.
This is the chef’s own creation and had a lot of flavor. Rib meat, beans and a variety of veggies simmered to make a tasty stew. Loren did the soup & sandwich combo with a pulled pork sandwich. The port was tender and smokey. We also got a side of fried okra. Yum!
I went for the lunch baby back ribs with mac & cheese. The ribs were tender and flavorful and a nice portion for lunch.
Since it was pouring down rain when we finished eating, we decided to stick around and try the apple cobbler.
Add a little bit of ice cream and whipped cream and that’s one tasty dessert. Definitely some of the best BBQ we’ve had recently. If we’re ever out that way again, we’ll be sure to stop by. Total bill with a drink was $35.

We stopped at Jimbo’s BBQ in Tampa for lunch today. We were in a hurry, so both got the pulled pork sandwich with different sides.
We both liked the pork and bbq sauce. It was tender and tasty with a nice smokey flavor. The hush puppies were good, but none of the other sides really stood out. The fried okra had a good crunch, the beans were a bit sweet, and the potato salad & mac & cheese were just ok. Total bill with a drink was $20.

We stopped at Mainely Meat for some BBQ. We ordered a sampler and a pulled pork sandwich.
The ribs were very tender with a spicy rub on top. The chicken and pulled pork were both cooked well and the sausage was a bit on the spicy side. The sides, baked beans, potato salad, coleslaw, and cornbread, were all tasty as well. Total bill with a drink was $25.
