No Parking

We’ve attempted to eat at the FlapJacks restaurant in Safety Harbor a few times, but there’s never any available parking spaces in the small lot.   I went with a friend today and had to circle the lot a few times before someone left and I could find a spot.  It’s not a very big restaurant either and we had to wait about 15 -20 minutes for a table.

They’ve got a nice sized menu and we settled on the eggs benedict and a Crazee-Scramble.

My friend said the eggs benedict was tasty.  The scramble lets you pick 3 veggies, 1 meat & 1 cheese and it’s served with potatoes & pancakes.  It was delicious and the pancakes were light & fluffy.  The service was very friendly and the prices were great.  We were out of there for less than $20 total with a drink.  The only downside is that it’s in a small shopping center with a laundromat, nail salon and a several other busy places and there just isn’t enough parking to support all the businesses.

We went back to the Palm Harbor Bistro this morning to check out their breakfast menu.  Loren got the Empire skillet and I went for a 2-2-2 Your Way.

The Empire skillet had sausage, bacon, onions, mushrooms & cheese on top of fried potatoes plus 2 eggs and toast.  There was plenty of food on the plate.  I really their scrambled eggs.  They were light and fluffy.

For my 2-2-2, I got pancakes, eggs over easy and bacon with hash browns.   It was good, but I’d go for the scrambled eggs next time.  Total bill was $20.

    Big Breakfast

We were over in Tampa and stopped at the Three Coins Diner for breakfast.  They were pretty busy this morning , but luckily we got a table without a wait.  It’s not a big restaurant and looked to be filled with locals enjoying a hearty breakfast.

Loren went for a Belgium waffle and bacon.  Wouldn’t be breakfast without bacon, right?

Big fresh waffle and tasty bacon, what more could a guy ask for?  I went for the pancakes, eggs and some hashbrowns.

The pancakes were light and fluffy, just the way pancakes should be.  There was more food on our plates than either of us could eat.  It was typical diner food, with typical diner prices.  You don’t go home hungry.  Three Coins is open 24 hours, so you can get your fill any time of day or night.  Total bill with a drink was $19.

We went to a movie this morning and ended up at the reopened Village Inn over on Racetrack Road near Westchase.  The original Village Inn that was there closed a while back, but another franchisee bought the space and opened it up again.  They were crowded and we ended up with about a 10 minute wait for a table.

Loren wanted lunch & I wanted breakfast so he got a soup and burger and I got a skillet.

He liked the soup, but said the burger was really bland.  Completely lacking in seasoning.  I got the California skillet which had avocado in it that could probably have used another day or so to ripen further.  The pancakes were spot on and the rest of the skillet was tasty.  The only thing that got on my nerves about our dining experience is that every time a server went in or out of the kitchen they yelled that they were coming in or out.  Total bill with a drink was $25.

    Popeye

Sometimes it’s the silly little things that amuse us to no end.  Something that just catches you off guard and makes you giggle.  We went over to Athens in downtown Safety Harbor for breakfast and they had the Popeye omelette on their specials board.  What does Popeye love?  Spinach and Olive.  Loren had to order it just because it made us giggle.

Along with the spinach and olives, it also had bacon in it, everything’s better with bacon, right?  He really enjoyed the omelette.  I went for the blueberry pancakes and eggs over easy.

The pancakes were very tasty, but I forgot just how hot blueberries can get and burned my tongue on the first bite.  The eggs were perfectly cooked as well.  Our waitress was a little frazzled this morning, but other than that, it was a very enjoyable $15 breakfast.
