Brunch

We usually go to an early movie on Sunday morning and then grab a bite to eat afterward.  I like going to Daddy’s Grill because I can get breakfast until 2pm and Loren can grab some lunch.

Loren went for the pastrami sandwich and veggie beef soup.  They make a tasty soup here.  I was craving biscuits and they were perfectly with my ham, eggs and potatoes.  There’s nothing fancy about the food here.  It’s simple food, done right at a great price.  Total bill was $17.

Another Broken Egg Cafe opened recently in Clearwater in the Northwood Plaza on McMullen Booth Rd.  It’s a chain breakfast restaurant and there was about a 15 minute wait this morning.  We were there with friends and three of us ordered the Lakeshore scramble and Loren just got the city grits & some scrambled eggs.

The grits were really good.  They had garlic, onions, gouda, bacon, tomatoes & green onions in them.  As for everything else, it was pretty standard breakfast fare.  Nothing that made any of us say we just had to come back.   We weren’t too impressed with our waitress.  She didn’t seem like she wanted to be there at all.  The restaurant also has an open ceiling which makes it louder in there than it needs to be.  Total bill was $18 for the two of us.

A friend and I were heading to a movie and stopped at First Watch for breakfast.  Luckily, we got there before the big Sunday crowd showed up.  We both ordered skillets.

I got mine with avocado and over easy eggs. The potatoes were perfectly cooked and the fruit on the side was fresh.  It was fresh and perfectly cooked.  That’s one of the things I really like about this restaurant.  Everything from the decor to the food is light and fresh.  It just has an overall different feel from so many of the other chain breakfast restaurants.  Something as simple as leaving a pitcher of water and coffee on the table makes it so much more convenient for both the waitress and us.  Total bill was $9.

Big Breakfast

We were over in Tampa and stopped at the Three Coins Diner for breakfast.  They were pretty busy this morning , but luckily we got a table without a wait.  It’s not a big restaurant and looked to be filled with locals enjoying a hearty breakfast.

Loren went for a Belgium waffle and bacon.  Wouldn’t be breakfast without bacon, right?

Big fresh waffle and tasty bacon, what more could a guy ask for?  I went for the pancakes, eggs and some hashbrowns.

The pancakes were light and fluffy, just the way pancakes should be.  There was more food on our plates than either of us could eat.  It was typical diner food, with typical diner prices.  You don’t go home hungry.  Three Coins is open 24 hours, so you can get your fill any time of day or night.  Total bill with a drink was $19.

Breakfast

We had a late breakfast at Athen’s in downtown Safety Harbor this morning.

Blueberry pancakes with eggs and bacon for Loren and a delicious raisin French Toast with eggs and hashbrowns for me.  Very filling and the price was right.  Total bill with a drink was $14.
