We found ourselves in Montverde this afternoon and stopped at Green Mountain Pizza for a late afternoon sandwich.  It’s a small pizza and sub shop and was packed with teenagers at 3pm.  Luckily, we were able to grab a table and wolf down an Italian sub and a steak & cheese.

The bread smelled and tasted like it was right out of the oven. Yum!  The Italian sub had lots of meats and veggies, but Loren thought it was missing something to tie it all together.  The steak & cheese had the ooey, gooey goodness, but needed a little more seasoning to make it perfect.  Overall though, not a bad lunch for $17 with a drink.

We ended up at Gino’s Pizza for lunch today.  Loren got a half Italian sub & salad and I went for the cheesesteak.

Loren said the Italian sub was pretty good.  For half a sandwich, it was plenty to fill him up.

I found the cheesesteak to be a bit on the dry side.  It was more than I could eat in one sitting.  The roll was really big, so Loren ended up just eating some of the cheesesteak out of it.  Total bill with a drink was $17.

We were over in Dunedin today & stopped for lunch at Delco’s.  They still don’t take credit cards, but it doesn’t seem to have slowed their business down at all.  There was a line at the counter the entire time we were there.  This was the first time we’ve been back since they moved into their new space.  We actually ordered the same thing this time as we did the last, a cheesesteak for me and a roast beef sub for Loren.

Loren still prefers the sandwiches at Jersey Mike’s, but I think the cheese steaks here are yummy.  We both ended up taking half of our sandwiches home.  I still find the way they handle the counter to be a bit odd.  You place your order at the register, but you’re not supposed to pay until you leave.  It just makes for a bottleneck up front that could be handled so much easier if you just paid when you ordered.  Being able to pay with a credit card would also be pretty handy.  Total bill was $17 with a couple of drinks.

  • Yummy Subs

I was in the mood for a sub for lunch, so we drove over to Largo to Cesarina Deli & Bakery.  They have a big variety of cold and hot subs along with some Italian dishes.  I went for the California cheese steak.

I couldn’t even begin to pick it up & eat it until I had taken half of the meat off.  There was so much of it and it was really flavorful and delicious.  It had a wonderful seasoning to it and the bread was fresh and tasty.  I was only able to eat half of it.  Loren went for the muffalata.

He was only able to eat half of his too.  He said the bread was crusted in some really tasty herbs, the deli meat was fresh and the olive spread was tasty too.  Overall, some really yummy sandwiches.  With a couple of drinks, the total bill was $19.  I also ended up spending about $30 in the deli on some meats, olives, a really delicious cannoli, and some other baked goods.  I had to buy some of this cake just so I could photograph it.

Definitely check this place out if you’re in the area.  The subs are delicious.

  • It’s not often that we eat at the chain restaurants, but we found ourselves at Chili’s for lunch today.  They didn’t seem all that busy for a Friday at noon, but the food sure took its good sweet time coming out of the kitchen.  In fact, the manager stopped by our table and several others to let us know it’d be “just a few more minutes”.

Loren & both went for one of their lunch specials that came with a salad and half a sandwich.

Loren got the chicken & guacamole sandwich and I got a Philly cheesesteak.  It was a bit on the salty side and really difficult to eat as it all just wanted to slide off the roll.  There’s just something so generic about the food at all of these chains and this Chili’s is just notorious for being way too slow when you only have an hour for lunch.  Total bill with a drink was $20.
